Hormonal highs and lows.....can these really be caused by a FUNGUS??
ANTIBIOTICS, ANTIDEPRESSANTS, CANDIDA, FUNGAL INFECTION, HOMEOPATHY, HORMONAL HEALTH, HORMONAL IMBALANCE, IBS, INFERTILITY, MEDICATION, MENOPAUSE, PERIODS, PROBIOTICS, WOMEN'S HEALTH, YEAST INFECTION
Would you believe me if I said this stuff gets everywhere…and I mean everywhere, causing a plethora of women’s health problems? Ones you’d probably not ever considered.
The candida fungus is not just localised to the gut; once it gets going, it gets going everywhere. Candida, in its fungal form, can become systemic.
Given the right conditions (acidic, plenty of sugar, imbalance of good bacteria) candida transforms from yeast to fungal form, penetrating the digestive walls and accessing the bloodstream.
In particular, the candida fungus has an affinity for the female reproductive organs. In a study carried out in the USA, in around 40% of women complaining of vaginal thrush, candida was found to be the most frequently isolated pathogen.
Conventional treatment is often anti-fungal medication (the likes of Canesten etc). Did you know however that this increases the acidity of the vaginal tract, allowing for further growth of the candida fungus contributing to increased susceptibility towards cystitis and endometriosis.
Did you know….
Anti-fungal and antibiotics contribute to increased susceptibility towards candida infections which manifest as vaginal thrush, endometriosis and PMT by increasing the acidity in the vaginal tract.
Endometriosis is defined as a ‘presence of endometrium outside of the uterus, presenting as heavy, painful periods, pain with intercourse, bowel movements and infertility.’ Studies on the British Homeopathic Association’s website also acknowledges women who experienced symptoms of endometriosis often had history of multiple courses of antibiotics and recurrent attacks of thrush, along with lifestyle stress and diets high in sugar.
Homeopathy acknowledges the link between medical history and dietary factors with presenting symptoms rather more than conventional medicine, which will seek to treat the affected organ independently, as if it were attacked by a ‘germ’.
Look out next time for some more interesting snippets as to how candida has such a fundamental effect on overall health and well-being, particularly the impact on our mental and emotional health…..why that happens exactly, I’ll share with you in another blog.
